Contact successfully trials new communciations channel
TxtCentre provides txt messaging channel to support Positive Energy Campaign
AUCKLAND, NZ - August 25, 2004 - TxtCentre announced Contact Energy’s successful trial of TxtCentre’s interactive txt messaging channel as a response mechanism for the Positive Energy Campaign running though July and August of 2004.
The Positive Energy campaign included a comprehensive television, print, direct mail and web program designed to provide New Zealanders with more information about energy options for today and the future. A weekly newspaper feature provided general information about energy options as well as the opportunity for readers to gain a more detailed information pack via post.
Readers were able to request the information pack by either calling Contact Energy’s free phone customer service line, or, by sending their name and address via a txt message. The latter option was provisioned through the TxtCentre service.
Louise St Clare, Retail Operations Manager, said: Contact is committed to providing high levels of service to both our customers and the New Zealand public. We are constantly looking for ways to improve how we receive and disseminate information. Txt messaging is an extremely popular communications channel for New Zealanders. We have used the Positive Energy campaign to test the TxtCentre service technology and can see that it will have a place with Contact.
Warren Tobin, Managing Director TxtCentre Limited, Txt messaging has become a standard option for person to person communications and as a platform to enter competitions or register votes. While we pioneered many consumer applications in New Zealand, our belief is that the area that can most benefit from intelligent txt messaging applications, like the TxtCentre service, is business. Our clients are beginning to understand how the TxtCentre service can reduce contact centre costs, without negatively affecting customer service. Contact’s successful trial of TxtCentre confirms that we are on the right track.
