TxtCentre Limited Announces Name Change to Altaine Limited
New name announced to better reflect the wide range of products and services provided
AUCKLAND, NEW ZELAND. 09 August, 2006 – TxtCentre was formed in 2002 to take advantage of the opportunities emerging from the evolution of mobile phones into multi channel communication devices and the improved computing capability of the devices themselves. The current TxtCentre service leverages the massive uptake, use and preference for SMS messaging by consumers, to provide a communication channel for existing contact centres and corporate clients.
During the last two years TxtCentre’s products have evolved to include a range of new products and services which utilise the image rich technologies fast becoming standard on all mobile phones. These new products include; mobile phone TV services, new concept mTooth wireless proximity systems which allow mobile phones to access news, video and a wide range of content via a local wireless connection; new generation delivery of content from the publishing giant DK (Penguin Books); and a range of mobile phone and integrated internet delivered personal interest and community products (Golf, Wine, Cricket, Football).
Warren Tobin, Managing Director Altaine Limited, “Today we are deploying and developing a wide range of new technology products which utilise modern mobile phone technology and infrastructure in New Zealand, Australia, the UK and the US. Unfortunately, the name TxtCentre positions the company in a way that no longer reflects our core business. We have decided to make the jump and move to Altaine, a name which will serve the company well now and for the future.”
Altaine, previously TxtCentre, was formed to harness the opportunities afforded by mobile phones and the new forms of communication available through them. Altaine provides a wide range of interactive and bi-directional SMS, image and mobile phone centred messaging services as well as Mobile TV content, mobile based community applications and wireless proximity customer loyalty systems. Altaine is active in Australasia, the UK and North America.
